NBA Power Rankings Post-Draft

https://www.si.com/nba/post-draft-power-rankings-taking-stock-around-league-offseason-begins

#1: NY KNICKS:

To the victor go the spoils. As well as the top spot in these power rankings. The Knicks didn’t do much in the draft but they didn’t need to after winning this year’s title with an extremely talented, well-rounded starting five starring Jalen Brunson. The bench will probably need some tinkering given New York’s publicly stated desire to avoid the second apron but at large, doubt the Knicks at your own peril. They can defend, they can shoot, they can score in the paint and they haven’t met a deficit too big to overcome. New York is the best team in the league.

#2; SPURS

#3: OKC

#4: PISTONS

#5: MIAMI HEAT

#30: SACRAMENTO KINGS

  • KingofInstaLeBron leaving the Lakers moves the needle. If he goes to OKC they become the WC Finals favorites. If he goes to Miami, they become the EC Finals favorites, especially after the Knicks just lost Mitch Robinson.

  • 4D ChestWill be a very exciting 2026-27. No teams have repeated as champs this decade so chances are the Knicks don't repeat. The Knicks are highly dependent on JB and KAT who are both approaching 30. Same for the Heat who signed a soon-to-be 33 Giannis. The Warriors are the Kings without Curry.

  • Pied PiperIf LeBron returns to Miami they become #1 in the East and likely a EC Finals candidate.

  • Parlay PrinceOverrated Warriors at #15 is a big stretch. Bulls at #28 and Grizzlies at #29 is disrespectful due to unknowns. Warriors will fall this year and Grizzlies, Bulls & Wizards will surprise (top-20 teams).

  • Michael MyersIf the Knicks lose Mitchell Robinson in free agency there is no way they're #1. Supposedly the Lakers or Kings are interested and may offer $15-$20M/year. Knicks need another aggressive 3-point SG.

  • MoneyLineKings always manage to be dead last in rankings. The Spurs did very well in the draft. They got another big shot blocker at pick #20. I think they created distance between them and everyone else in the West.
