World Wrestling Entertainment's Monday Night RAW debuted on Netflix to a stellar reception, drawing a
substantial global audience of 4.9 million and capturing 2.6 million homes in
the US, as reported by VideoAmp. This marks the launch of WWE's decade-long
alliance with Netflix, a deal exceeding $5 billion, offering an option to
extend or withdraw after five years. This significant debut is noteworthy as RAW previously averaged 1.2 million viewers on USA Network last
year.
The episode recorded the highest viewing figures since the
aftermath of WrestleMania, which peaked at 2.36 million viewers in April. WWE
says the episode is the most viewed in five years, showcasing significant
growth in audience reach through its new streaming platform. While this global
audience is impressive, numbers exclude viewership from 92 regions where
Netflix currently lacks rights, such as France, Germany, and Japan.
Netflix boasts a
subscriber base of 282.3 million across over 190 countries. It is now the
exclusive streaming provider for RAW in
markets including the US, Canada, the UK, and Latin America, with more regions
anticipated. Given these initial results, the platform's partnership appears
poised for continued success, potentially reshaping audience engagement in the
professional wrestling domain
